Aqua Car Design

Car designers are always striving to come up with the next innovation in design and put something different on the roads, so it comes as no surprise that an innovative inventor has come up with a car that will drive on sand, water and ice but also be road worthy.

It can only reach speeds of sixty two miles per hour, but is designed to work like a hovercraft and therefore can make an easy transition between different surfaces as not to disrupt the drive.

Designed by a twenty one year old female designer for a competition sponsored by Volkswagen, the car works by using a series or airbags and fans that help it to move and lift from the ground. The large windscreen merges into a sunroof to give the driver ample viewing area, and you enter and exit the vehicle from a rear hatch on the car.

Named the Aqua the car uses hydrogen fuel to power its two motors and has zero emissions, so will be in a cheap bracket for car tax if it ever makes the roads. It is made out of lightweight materials to be able to navigate the different surfaces.

The car is designed as an air cushion vehicle as the designer feels that this is the most seamless way for a car to switch through the different driving surfaces.

The designer said "I hope Aqua will become an affordable supercar that is available for the general public one day".

The Aqua deals with traffic issues and may see the traffic on our roads dissipating as people take to the water and other surfaces around our cities.

The cost of insuring such a vehicle would be high as there would be unpredictable driving conditions; there is currently no benchmark for driving in the sand, and the water conditions can be changeable and therefore dangerous.
