is there any reason why, if you bought a hovercraft..you might be unable to stay at sea for long periods....?

and what is the best shape for a vessel to be, if you wanted to live semi permanently at sea? would it be a flat round-ish shape that would be most stable and move about the least?

I think some sort of hybrid design would be best. Something that can float when the seas are too rough but can hover when the sea is flat enough for speed.

Floats along the length of the vessel that could be raised and lowered would enable that. You could also use solar panels for your energy and electrically driven fans to achieve lift when in "hover mode."
