What country do the British visit mostly during holiday? Also what was your experience?

riding the hovercraft (I think that is what it is called) or the new train that goes under the British Channel to France (I think)?

Since those means of transportation are new and maybe a
bit unique, I would suppose that the normal Brit would continue with the same means they've relied on for previous
trips. Things are very costly in Britain as well as the states,
and so when one goes on holiday, they have to consider their
budgets as well. Spain is probably the most popular holiday
destination. The weather is always warmer and the beaches
are nicer. And there is always the shopping as an attraction.
People go on weekend jaunts around the country, and don't
usually go too far from where they live. Often to the coast to
a caravan and nightly entertainment, or sometimes just a
hotel in a quiet destination. There is alot of history, of both
British and Roman and there's always something to explore.
WIth petrol around the $7.00 mark and above, there's not
alot of extra driving or sight seeing going on. But isn't that
everywhere, where gas prices are reaching for the sky?
