I need idea's for a senior design project?

I need an Idea on what to make/build for my engineering senior design project. So far two plans have backfired on me. I planned on building a go-kart or a hovercraft. Problems were was mainly money and limited parts. We also have to tie in a lesson plan with this. Any idea's would be great. Being on a tight budget doesn't help either about 100-150.00 budget. If any idea's please tell!

I guess I could but finding a way for propulsion (large fan) is quite impossible to find around here in ohio
I'm only in high school too so I have no idea what all those things are sorry! it would be cool sending all that stuff if I knew what it was but ya..

My senior design project was sending data over powerline using X10 protocol and characterizing the bit-error-rate. You can make some innovations with it for home automation. It's not a costly project if you are in USA or Canada because there are modules available there such as the PSC05.
